Wireless Connectivity
The sensor communicates wirelessly with the home security system, typically using protocols like Z-Wave or 2GIG's proprietary communication protocol. -
Magnetic Reed Switch
The sensor consists of two parts – a sensor and a magnet. When the door or window is closed, the magnet aligns with the sensor. When the door or window is opened, the magnet moves away from the sensor, triggering the sensor to send a signal to the control panel. -
Tamper Detection
Many door/window sensors include tamper detection features, alerting the system if someone tries to interfere with or disable the sensor.
